RISE AND RECLINER CHAIRS LOAN
(Information courtesy of our Gloucester Village Agent)
I visited Men in Sheds at the Furniture Recycling Warehouse in Gloucester Docks Fabulous place for men with time on their hands! During my visit, I was told about the loan of Rise & Recliner chairs. It is a convenient, cost effective solution for people who are recovering from medical treatment, receiving palliative care or have disabilities or mobility problems. The Furniture Recycling Project work with OT's to offer a personal service to find the right chair for the client. All chairs are electronically tested and professionally cleaned before being delivered.
The cost is £75 for the first month and £35 thereafter - which isn't bad considering a new chair can cost in excess of £1000 and may only be needed for a short period of time! They also sell new mattresses, beds and new white goods at reduced prices for people in need. For further information and prices contact Andy 01452 524333 ext 2

HEALTHWATCH NEEDS YOUR EXPERIENCES
Do you, a relative or friend currently receive domiciliary care services (home care)? If so, Healthwatch Gloucestershire would like to hear from you with your experiences, good and bad. Healthwatch believes that Domiciliary Care is one of the most important services we have because they support some of the most vulnerable in our society. Because of this, services need to be caring, flexible and compassionate. Gloucestershire County Council will re-commission Domiciliary Care later this year and your feedback will help us to discuss what the new contract should include.

WHAT DOES A VILLAGE AGENT DO?
I work with people over 50, putting them in touch with the people who can help them and providing them with information and support. All Village Agents are CRB cleared so I can visit people in their homes as well as meeting them at coffee mornings, lunch clubs, friendship clubs and other social activities. For those who are unable to get out, I can be contacted by phone or email.
I am also part of the Macmillan Cancer Survivorship Project which means that I can offer support to people affected by cancer, their families and carers, aged 18 and over, from diagnosis onwards.
